We strive to keep your child smiling through education and preventative dentistry. Our fun and friendly team will do their absolute best to make sure that you and your child look forward to coming back.
A lifetime of smiles begins with a tooth. Once your baby’s first tooth spurts out of the gum line, or by the time that they turn one, it is a good idea to start seeing a dentist at Watt Antelope Family Dentist. There, we can examine your child’s mouth to make sure everything is growing properly. You can bring up any concerns you may have. We will be happy to educate you on the proper methods of cleaning your baby’s teeth as it differs slightly from cleaning your own adult teeth. We will also show you signs to watch out for as their teeth come in to ensure that their smile shines easily. After your child’s initial visit to our dental office, it is important that they receive regular check-ups and cleanings every six months to prevent cavities.
Once they are a little older, we will teach them the best way for them to be cleaning their teeth and flossing. Around the age of six, we may recommend fluoride treatments and dental sealants to keep their teeth protected from tooth decay. We begin these recommendations at this age because nearly half of young children suffer from tooth decay. And as their permanent adult teeth start coming in, it is important to prevent cavities. This is also especially important because children and teenagers often have irregular or imperfect oral hygiene habits. We will make sure to educate them on the importance of oral hygiene from a young age but we still encourage preventative treatments.
